Why a marketplace rather than one agency
Booking travel in a country you do not know usually means picking a stranger off a search result and hoping. MyGetawayBuddy is not a tour operator: we do not run the trips, employ the drivers or set the prices. Local, licensed agents do — and because several of them quote the same request, they compete on the whole package rather than on a headline figure. Quotes are ordered by reputation by default, not by price, because a marketplace that quietly sorts for the cheapest agent stops being worth using.

Today, Sri Lanka. MyGetawayBuddy is built as a multi-country platform — each country runs on its own destinations, currency, vetted agents and local WhatsApp line — and Sri Lanka is the first one live. Further countries open as local agents there are approved.
Is MyGetawayBuddy a travel agency or a tour operator?
Neither. MyGetawayBuddy is a marketplace that connects travellers with independent local travel agents. We do not run trips, employ the drivers or set the prices — the licensed local businesses who quote you do all three. That is why several different quotes arrive for the same trip.
What does MyGetawayBuddy charge?
Nothing. Requesting a trip and receiving quotes is free, and we add no booking fee or commission to the price you are quoted. You arrange payment directly with the agent whose quote you accept — we never take your card details or hold your money.
How do I know a local agent is trustworthy?
Every agent is approved by our team before they can quote, and agents whose tourism licence or business registration we have checked carry a Verified badge. Ratings, review counts and completed-trip counts are computed only from travellers with a real booking behind them — a new agent shows “no reviews yet” rather than a placeholder score, because we never seed or invent one.
